Embassy Court Architect: Wells Coates. 1936 Built on the site of Western House this building announced the end of the Brighton Regency - Victorian architectural style( although it was readily taken up again by developers in the '60 and thereafter!) This bold, uncompromising building, once 'the best address in town' offered the 'Thirties vision of the future : regrettably lack of maintenance and a difficult legal position have combined to place the building under threat, although there are robust plans to remedy this position. 2006:After a gargantuan effort the building has now been restored - congratulations to all involved. |
