No. 2 Regency Square bears a neat stone tablet dedicated to DR WILLIAM KING (1786-1865), social reformer, founder of The Co-operator. His plaque was funded by the Co-operative Party. Next door, at No.1, lived a remarkable woman. HARRIET MELLON (1777-1837), was an actress. She married twice. Her first husband was an elderly banker who left her an extremely rich widow and her second husband made her a duchess.
